Sign Ups are open!

*drumroll* We're a little early again, but sign ups are now open at the 2017 AO3 Collection.

They will remain open until 6PM EDT August 23 2017 (Countdown Clock)

You must be logged into an AO3 account to sign up. Remember you can shoot us an email at femslashexmod@gmail.com and we can help you out with an invitation if you do not already have an account.

Don't forget to check out the small fandoms post for ideas and to promote your favourite fandoms.

Go over the rules one more time before starting your sign up. A quick reminder of the important points:

Requests

• You may request four to six fandoms from the list of nominated fandoms.


• For each request, do not forget that you can request art, fic, or both.


• For each fandom you must request one to six pairings from the list of nominated pairings. If you choose to request any pairing, double-check the list of nominated pairings for that fandom and make certain that any of the pairings listed are all right by you.


• Your match will be based on fandom, pairing, and format (i.e. fic or art).


• While the description section is optional, we strongly suggest you include Do Not Wants. Any DNWs/triggers included in the description will be enforced by the mods, however all other details will be optional for your writer or artist. You can also include a link to a Dear Creator letter if you would like to provide more information.

Offers

• You may offer four to ten fandoms from the list of nominated fandoms.


• Each fandom you offer must have one to ten pairings from the list of nominated pairings. If you choose to offer any pairing, double-check the list of nominated pairings for that fandom and make certain that any of the pairings listed are all right by you.


• Again, as for requests, you can offer art, fic, or both.

Don't forget...

• Check the Uncategorised and the No Media sections of the tag set for extra fandoms, crossovers, and original work tags.


• Occasionally, after you select a fandom, pairings you want might not appear in the drop-down menu despite already being in the tag set. If that happens, please copy and paste the pairing you want from the tag set, but remember that you need to get it exactly the same.


• You may edit your sign up as much as you like between now and the close of sign-ups.


• Please read over your sign-ups one last time before they close. After all, what if you ticked the wrong box?


• If you write a Dear Creator letter, you can share them at our letters post!


• Your assignment will need to be completed and posted by 6PM EDT on October 7. Please consider carefully whether you will be able to commit to that deadline before signing up.

Mods, I just went to start signing up and noticed that my nomination of Garona/Taria under Warcraft (2016) has been moved to World of Warcraft. Did I miss a question about combining these? I just went back through all the posts and couldn't find anything about it, even in the comments.

Is it too late to move it back? Or at least change the disambiguation to "(Warcraft 2016)"? The film and the games are basically alternate universes, and the film makes some pretty major changes to backstory, characterisation and plotlines in ways that would radically change this ship. I definitely want the film versions of these characters, so this unexpected change is really worrying for me.

Sorry about that! With so many fandoms and pairings sometimes it's not always clear what needs to be corrected vs. what needs to go in a clarification post for discussion, which is why we remind everyone to double check their pairings have been wrangled correctly in case a mistake has been made or an AO3 bug or wandering tag has messed something up. Unfortunately, now that sign ups are open we aren't making any further changes to the tagset so it will stay as is for this round.

If you nominate the same pairing (or something similar) in the future, it might be worth dropping a pre-emptive comment on why something shouldn't be combined so there's no risk of something slipping under the radar - that sounds like it might be a similar situation to Star Trek AOS, so we'd definitely be happy to discuss whether not combining would be better in the future.

Given that no one has requested the fandom yet, what would it hurt to fix your error?

Agreed. I've seen moderators change errors in a tagset while signups were running. It wouldn't hurt to move the pairing back to "Warcraft (2016)." And no one's requested World of Warcraft at the moment--it's not going to hurt signups.

To be perfectly honest, this is my first go round modding an AO3 exchange so it might be fine but I'm not sure and don't want to risk breaking anything. So I'm following the letter of my co-mods instructions (and some of the warnings in the AO3 backend) not to go around changing things during sign ups.

With a bit of luck one of the others might be around soon and can confirm/do so if it's safe, but we're also collectively traveling/dealing with urgent offline stuff *raises hand* so I can't give you an estimate on when.

I really can only reiterate that I am very, very sorry about it. I wasn't the one who wrangled Warcraft so I'm not sure what the circumstances were around this, but it certainly seems like we made an error somewhere and I know that's disappointing. If you are (rightly) concerned about us repeating the muck up in future years, what I said above are probably the most reliable ways to pre-empt us being regular error prone humans. But for this year I can only sincerely apologise for whatever happened (and cross my fingers another mod might pop up who knows more than me and is comfortable tweaking late.)

Since no one has requested the fandom yet, I've gone ahead and moved it to Warcraft (2016)! Let us know if anything still isn't looking right, and I'd like to reiterate shopfront's apology for missing this the first time around. All of the mods have been hit with a string of bad luck, and we've done our best to keep up with the tagset but this slipped through the cracks.

Thank you! :) I am very pleased to see this moved back. (The disambiguation still says World of Warcraft though.)

I understand mistakes happen, I was just very surprised to see my nomination had suddenly been changed. As I didn't see any clarification post about it, I had assumed it was fine and still as I left it.

Warcraft!anon, I'll take responsibility for the original error. My research (... into a very large and complicated canon ...) led me to believe that at least one of the characters in the pairings belonged to WOW, but not to the movie, but it looks like I was mistaken, so I apologize for what happened. ... And I'm a bit ashamed, since I actually went to go see the movie, and I used to be a player of the original (pre-MMO) Warcraft games, but the world's gotten a lot more involved since I was a fan.

What do I do if a pairing I want to offer isn't appearing in the drop down? It's in the tag set.

I'm not a mod.

This is a common AO3 bug. Go to the tagset, copy and past it from the tagset directly into your form and hit enter. It still won't show up in the drop down but it should accept it when you hit submit.

This is totally my fault for not keeping an eye on approved nominations, but Degrassi Next Class and Degrassi the Next Generation have some duplicates. I'm not sure how this came about or if it can be corrected.
