Nominations Are Closed (and Clean Up Post)

Thanks for all the work you put into nominating things. I'm really excited about the sheer variety of fandoms nominated.

Now, clean up. If all y'all wouldn't mind, could you look over the fandom lists and check for duplicates (Beth Childs/Sarah Manning AND Sarah Manning/Beth Childs for example), duplications across fandoms (ex: Taylor Swift/K$hea showing up in both Pop Music RPF and Actor RPF) misfiled pairings (Star Trek characters showing up in Harry Potter), misspellings, inappropriate characters (like someone nominating an unambiguously male-identified character), and stealth threesomes or crossovers (those Warner Brothers characters getting in with the Disney Princesses again!)? That would be a great help.

If you have a particular problem with how something is sorted, mention that too, and I'll see if fixing it will work.

A couple of issues I have that I'd like comm input on: Compilation of Final Fantasy VII vs Final Fantasy VII issue, and the Game of Thrones vs A Song of Ice and Fire issue.

Compilation of FF7 and FF7 have almost identical pairing sets (One assumes because FF7 is part of Compilation). They each, however, also have some unique pairings. Compilation has Shera/Scarlet, and FF7 proper has Elena/Aerith Gainsborough and Aerith Gainsborough/Tifa Lockhart.

I feel like I could roll everything into Compilation and delete FF7 (or the other way around). Does that work for everyone? As it stands, the duplication would make matching difficult.

Mea Culpa on the next one. I hadn't noticed that both GoT and ASoIaF were categories on the go, and didn't try sorting them from the start. By this point, about 3/4s of the pairings are duplicated, intentionally or not, and it's going to be a bit of a mess to sort out. As I see it, the options are:

1) Eliminate one category and roll the refugee pairings into the other. Problem because, as I understand it, the canons have diverged enough that people might ship one thing one place but not another. Am I wrong?

2) Try to separate the two fandoms into what was originally nominated where (what should have happened in the first place). Problem because it would be a pain in the neck and require everyone remembering what went where.

3) Do nothing. Leave all the duplicated pairings as they are. This would certainly be easier. I suppose people asking for/offering the same pairings across the board could be a problem, but that can happen in comics fandom too.

Thoughts, feelings, opinions?

In the case of the Compilation of FFVII, Final Fantasy VII is the original game, while Compilation is the catch-all term for all the prequels and sequels. It looks like Compilation is the meta-tag, but all the characters nominated appear in the original game, so if the categories are merged I don't think it'll cause any confusion.

She's The Man (2006) has both Olivia/Viola (Cesario) & Viola Hastings/Olivia Lennox - I'm pretty sure the Olivia/Viola (Cesario) pairing more applies to Twelfth Night itself, while Viola Hastings/Olivia Lennox is the same pairing in She's The Man. :)

Two pairings I nominated in the same category have been split up into two different categories, which, given the two-requests rule, means I can no longer request either of them (or at best, given the 'one exception,' can only request one or the other). Is there any way to get them wrangled back together again (even if it means having duplicate pairings across fandoms, and just adding in a rule about not requesting the same pairing more than once)?

There's two pairings in Kingdom Hearts: Belle/Fa Mulan (Disney) and Aerith Gainsborough/Tifa Lockhart that I'm fairly certain got auto-added when people requested them in other categories.

It looks like two Merlin pairings are duplicated in the Arthurian Mythology category:

This was my thought as well. The books being so far ahead also leaves potential for spoilers... I'm going to feel really bad if I write something set in asoiaf for someone who only watches got and it gives away a major plot point. If they do get rolled together I would definitely have requesters clarify which they are asking for (or if they're okay with both).

The Dresden Files - Jim Butcher is listed under both TV shows and Books with the same pairings. Based on the pairings it looks like whoever nominated it intended to nominate the books, not the TV show.

That's kind of odd. There is a separate fandom tag for the TV show, so I'm not sure why the books are showing up in the TV section. In any case, it's an association issue (the same fandom visible in two places), not a duplication. It should be fine.

In the nom for 'The Heat (2013)', the pairing is listed like this:

Sarah Ashburn/Shannon Mullins - Relationship

I'm thinking the 'relationship' shouldn't be there.

Not a mod, but this is also an AO3 thing. It means there is an existing Sarah Ashburn/Shannon Mullins tag, but it's not in the relationship category, so it automatically adds the category afterward to differentiate them.

In Simoun, "Neviril/Paraietta" and "Paraietta/Neviril" are the same relationship. I think alphabetically the first one would be right.

In Gundam Wing, "Relena Peacecraft/Cathrine Bloom" - Catherine's name is misspelled.

I looked through a whole bunch of anime fandoms, and they looked good!

The pairings seem to have got messed up for Code Name Verity, so it's not showing a) the major pairing for the fandom: Queenie aka Julie aka Verity / Maddie, and b) any pairing involving Queenie aka Julie aka Verity at all. The complex naming issues may be the reason, but it makes signups a real problem. Help?

The tag set shows the following pairings for CNV:

I assume the last one is the one you're looking for.

I think the glitch you're running into is that it's not showing up in the drop down menu on the sign up form, correct? That's a known glitch, and the way to get around it is to copy and paste the name in from the tag set.
