Sign Ups Are Open!

I encourage you to revisit the rules before rolling up your sleeves and signing up.

To be brief, and to borrow (rather heavily) from the sign-ups post from last year:

— You must have – and be logged into – an AO3 account to sign up. If you do not have one, e-mail the mods (details about that and how to use the sign up form here).

— Please, folks, only sign up if you are 100% certain you will be able to complete your assignment by 17 October 2015.

REQUESTS

— You may request four to six fandoms from the list of nominated fandoms.

— For each request, do not forget that you can request art, fic, or both.

— Each fandom must you request must have one to six pairings from the list of nominated pairings.

— Your match will be based on fandom, pairing, and format (i.e. fic or art).

— The description section is optional, but it is a very good idea to include information like squicks (especially squicks), general likes, rating restrictions, and prompt ideas. Note, too, that there are things that can be done more easily in fic than in art (and vice versa), so keep that in mind (for more details on art prompts, go here). If you have a great deal to say, it might also be a good idea to link to a "Dear Creator" letter in your own space explaining everything.

OFFERS

— You may offer four to ten fandoms from the list of nominated fandoms.

— Each fandom you offer must have one to ten pairings from the list of nominated pairings, and, again, if you choose to offer any pairing, double-check the list of nominated pairings for that fandom and make certain that any of the pairings listed are all right by you.

— Again, as for requests, you can offer art, fic, or both.

Good notes to remember from last year.

— Occasionally, after you select a fandom, pairings you want might not appear in the drop-down menu despite already being in the tag set. If that happens, please copy and paste the pairing you want from the tag set, but remember that you need to get it exactly the same as it is there.

— You may edit your sign up as much as you like between now and the close of sign-ups.

— Please, please read over your sign-ups one last time before they close. After all, what if you ticked the wrong box?

— Sign-ups close at 5 PM (PDT) on 2 September 2015. (Countdown clock)

Is anyone else seeing any glitches in the Tag list? There's a pairing I know I submitted and was approved and previously was listed that is no longer there.

Not a moderator or a person experiencing this glitch, but I am an AO3 coder, and I can tell you this is unfortunately a known issue AO3 has with challenges and tag sets. As long as the relationship is in the tag set, though, you should be able to request/offer it by manually entering it in the field (just make sure to type it exactly as it appears in the tag set).

No I mean it's not showing in the Taglist right now even though it was once there. I'm not even on the sign up form and it's disappeared.

Did you check some of the mods' posts about tags? Some pairings may have been removed or changed for various reasons.

Yeah, they seemed to only take out tags that were duplicates or not formatted correctly (at least to my understanding of their posts about tags). As stated, the tag was approved and the last time I checked the taglist was appearing under the fandom it belonged in.

What was the tag? It may have been moved, or it may have spontaneously moved.

Ah I think I found the problem. Seems that the link to the tagset on the A03 profile for the exchange links to the tagset from a previous year. Hence me thinking that suddenly the pairing was gone.

Ah. That would explain it. I thought I'd got them all. I'll have to do a better search next year. Sorted out now anyway.

Something that occurs to me - if we request something with a malleable protagonist (Couriers, Dragonborns, Shepards, Hawkes, etc), would it be cool to link some information about our particular iteration if we have it on our Dear Creator with "please use this iteration if possible"?

Linking would be fine, but I might not say, "if possible." Like, if they want to know, it's there, but it'd be better to let your author or artist know that you're interested in their versions as well.

Maybe something more like, "If you're interested in my iterations of X, you can check them out here. I'm always happy to see stuff based on them."

Will requests be made visible around treating time, or can we only see what others requested by the comments on the Letters post?

We usually make requests visible a couple weeks into writing.

I don't know if this is a problem that will automatically correct itself once sign-ups have closed, but one of my offered fandoms (Losing Chase) isn't showing up on the sign-up summary, even though I've had it on the list since I first signed up. I've made a couple of edits that seem to have been reflected in the sign-up summary, but this one is somehow not on the radar. Not sure if there's anything to be done, but I just thought I'd mention it! (I could always delete and resubmit my sign-up, but not sure if it's necessary.)

Is anyone requesting it? Offered fandoms only show up if someone is requesting them.
