Nominations Are Open!

Please read the rules before you start nominating.

In short:
  • You may nominate up to five fandoms with up to five relationships in each.

  • Both parties must be women or gender questioning/queer people you'd be comfortable writing about in a femslash challenge

  • All characters in nominated threesomes/moresomes must be women or gender questioning/queer people you'd be comfortable writing about in a femslash challenge.

  • Please nominate crossovers as under the fandom: Crossovers - Fandom, and list the characters with their fandom after the character name (Example: Pepper Potts (MCU)/Seven of Nine (Star Trek: Voyager)

  • [Canonical Character]/Original Female Character is allowed. [Canonical Character]/Any is not allowed

  • [Canonical Character]/[Unnamed Character] is allowed in cases where there most likely was a woman, but we don't know exactly who she was, for example: Galadriel/Legolas' Mother in The Hobbit fandom.

  • There will be one category for Original Work, in which you may nominate things such as Princess/Handmaiden, Mermaid/Ship Captain, or Starship Captain/Chief Engineer.

  • You may wish to check out the nomination discussion post to see what fandoms and pairings others are nominating, and how to nominate large/complicated fandoms, but as a summary:

    • Songs with female singers and female or ambiguous pronouns are eligible.

    • All of the MCU movies, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and Agent Carter will be listed under Marvel Cinematic Universe.

    • Jessica Jones and Daredevil will be listed together under Marvel Netflix.

    • X-Men (Movies) will now be divided into X-Men (Alternate Timeline Movies), X-Men (Original Timeline Movies) and Deadpool (2016). Wolverine movies go in Original Timeline.

    • Marvel Comics will be nominated by universe, for example: Marvel 616, Marvel Adventures, etc.

    • Main-continuity DC comics, including pre-Flashpoint and New 52, will be under DCU (Comics). Other DC universes such as Bombshells will be separate by universe.

    • Everything set in the Doctor Who universe can be nominated under Doctor Who (including Sarah Jane Adventures and Torchwood).

    • Tolkien fandoms will be split into The Silmarillion – J.R.R. Tolkein; The Hobbit (All Media Types), and The Lord of the Rings (All Media Types).

    • All of the old-continuity Star Treks together under "Star Trek: Classic Timeline (All Series)," AOS under "Star Trek: Alternate Original Series (Movies)‎."

    • Stargate will be grouped together under "Stargate - All Series"

    • Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel: The Series and assorted spinoffs will go together under "Buffy the Vampire Slayer & Related Fandoms."

    • All variations of Sailor Moon will be nominated separately.

    • All Pretty Cure series will be nominated together.

    • All Rune Factory series will be nominated together.

    • FF X and FF X-2 will be nominated as "Final Fantasy X & Final Fantasy X-2"

    • All of Dragon Age goes together under "Dragon Age - All Media Types"

    • Kamen Rider variations go together under Kamen Rider - All Media Types

    • Various Sentai properties go together under Super Sentai Series

    • The Les Mis tag will be "Les Miserables (All Media Types)."

    • Law and Order series will be nominated separately by series name.

    • Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow tv shows will be nominated together as "Arrowverse (CW TV)"

If you're unhappy with any of those combinations/divisions, the mods are willing to negotiate, but the sooner you mention it (either here or in the nomination discussions), the more likely we are to be able to change it.

If you spot any doubles, misfiled fandoms, random pairing popping up under other fandoms or pairings that don't qualify, comment here. We're going to do our best to wrangle as we go.

Don't waste a nomination! Before you nominate anything, check the tag set to see if your pairings and fandoms are already there.

Okay, ready to go? More than ready to go?

Click here to nominate some femslash.

Nominations will remain open until 5pm PDT, 25 August 2015.

Are you going to differentiate between X-men movies (original timeline) and X-men movies (alternate timeline). A pairing such as Jean/Storm will be different in each universe.

I agree that I'd prefer to see X1/X2/X3 separated from XM:FC/XM:DoFP/XM:A. Mystique for one is pretty much an entirely different character between one set and the other.

I have no idea where you'd stick the two Wolverine movies, though, and The Wolverine at least has some compelling femslash options.

I nominated "Princess/Knight" in Original Work for [personal profile] cypher, but the nomination form wouldn't let me add the tag as "Princess/Knight," so I had to affix "(Original Work)" to the tag.

(Let me know if I've done anything wrong here.)

Princess/Knight is already an existing freeform, and tags have to be a single category (character/relationship/freeform) on AO3.

There are some duplicate tags in the set:

- "Stardew Valley" and "Stardew Valley (Video Game)" are both fandoms
- "Kuvira/Opal" and "Kuvira/Opal (Avatar)" are both under Avatar: Legend of Korra

If the song is a cover by a female artist, is there a particular format the nomination should take?

For example, if I wanted to nominate one of these:

There are a few tags that should be moved to the Crossover tag:

Crossover: Kate Lethbridge-Stewart (Doctor Who)/Helen Magnus (Sanctuary) (in the Doctor Who tag)

Crossover Helen Magnus (Sanctuary)/Janet Fraiser (Stargate - all Series)
Crossover Helen Magnus (Sanctuary)/Sam Carter (Stargate - all Series) (both in the Sanctuary tag)

I didn't nominate these tags, but I'm assuming that, without the "Crossover" in front of all these tags, the tags are otherwise formatted correctly.

Hetalia

[personal profile] sirvalkyrie 2016-08-15 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
My Hetalia nominations were rejected. They were Female America/Belarus, Female America/Taiwan, and Belarus/Female Lithuania. Both Female America and Female Lithuania are canon female versions of male characters. Female America has been in both the manga and anime.

Disney & Final Fantasy Tags

[personal profile] sirvalkyrie 2016-08-16 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
Belle/Elsa (Disney) and Megara/Rapunzel (Disney) are appearing under Descendants (2015). Belle is a character in it. Rapunzel has a daughter in it. Elsa and Megara should exist but haven't shown up in person or have had any children show up. I'm pretty sure they are wandering tags from the animated canon fandom.

Not really needed, but under Final Fantasy XIII all the pairings have been disambiguated with with FF8. It should be FF13.

None of these ships are my nominations, but I am the one that nominated Descendants (2015).

"Winifred "Fred" Burkle/Root | Samantha Groves/Sameen Shaw" should be in Crossover, not Person of Interest!

(Also you rock and I'm excited to be back for my second year!)

I started nominating for this. I got as far as typing in a fandom, then I typed in a relationship. It wasn't in the dropdown, so I typed it in and then pressed enter. And now it's decided I've done my nomination and won't let me edit it or start again. What can I do now?

Hi! I've done my nominations already (yesterday) so I can't add new ones, but I was wondering if you guys could manually add in a Mass Effect pairing for me? Its really pretty darn obscure and only really gets seen in passing, but its Tashya Porae/Weshra.

I also didn't think to nominate it until today. ^^;

Robyn Locksley

[personal profile] sirvalkyrie 2016-08-17 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
I nominated Barbara Gordon (DC comics)/Robyn Locksley (Grimm Fairy Tales) under crossovers. Despite the name, I just wanted to clarify that Robyn Locksley is a female character.

I noticed that, under the "Doctor Who" set, "Ashildr/Missy/Clara Oswin Oswald" was nominated. I didn't nominate the tag, but I know AO3 pipes Ashildr's name (long story, but the character forgets her name after living so long for several years, and one of the names she uses is "Lady Me," so that's why her name tag is written is Ashildr | Lady Me).

That said, do you think the tag "Ashildr/Missy/Clara Oswin Oswald" should instead look like "Ashildr | Lady Me/Missy/Clara Oswin Oswald"?

(Not sure of the name order, since I always get confused on whether it's last names in alphabetical order or first names.)

Under "original work," both Dashing Knight/Feisty Princess and Princess/Knight are nominated. Mightn't it make more sense to just have Princess/Knight and leave notes on characterization for the optional details?

Ame-Comi Question

[personal profile] sirvalkyrie 2016-08-18 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
I have a question regarding the fandom of Ame-Comi Girls. It is originally a line of statues that later got a comic book adaptation. Is it okay to nominate characters that were part of the statue line but didn't make it into the comic before it was canceled?

Quick question: I'm nominating Archive 81 which as of yet has no fanfiction. Canonically the character of Melody Pendris has a girlfriend, but she has no name. So I just put Melody Pendris/Unnamed Girlfriend. Hope this is okay - I think you guys can clean up tags, so please do what you need with it if need be.

Thanks!

The pairing Melissa Glaser/Diana Meade is showing up in two places. The Secret Circle (TV) is correct, but the pairing shouldn't show up under The Secret Circle - LJ Smith because Melissa was only a character in the TV adaptation, not the books.

In Original Work, there's a tag that's formatted "Elf Dwarf (original works)". It should be "Elf/Dwarf".
