It's a few hours early, but the more time for nomination fun the better! If you haven't already please read the rules before you start nominating.

In short:

• You may nominate up to five fandoms with up to five relationships in each.


• Both parties must be women or gender questioning/queer people you'd be comfortable writing about in a femslash challenge


• All characters in nominated threesomes/moresomes must be women or gender questioning/queer people you'd be comfortable writing about in a femslash challenge.


• Please nominate crossovers as under the fandom: Crossovers - Fandom, and list the characters with their fandom after the character name (Example: Pepper Potts (MCU)/Seven of Nine (Star Trek: Voyager)


• [Canonical Character]/Original Female Character is allowed. [Canonical Character]/Any is not allowed


• [Canonical Character]/[Unnamed Character] is allowed in cases where there most likely was a woman, but we don't know exactly who she was, for example: Galadriel/Legolas' Mother in The Hobbit fandom.


• There will be one category for Original Work, in which you may nominate things such as Princess/Handmaiden, Mermaid/Ship Captain, or Starship Captain/Chief Engineer.


• You may wish to drop down into the comments below to see what fandoms and pairings others are nominating, and how to nominate large/complicated fandoms. We will be continuing to wrangle most large fandoms in the same manner as previous years, including:


• Songs with female singers and female or ambiguous pronouns are eligible.


• All of the MCU movies, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and Agent Carter will be listed under Marvel Cinematic Universe.


• Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist will be listed together under Marvel Netflix.


• X-Men (Movies) will now be divided into X-Men (Alternate Timeline Movies), X-Men (Original Timeline Movies) and Deadpool (2016). Wolverine movies go in Original Timeline.


• Marvel Comics will be nominated by universe, for example: Marvel 616, Marvel Adventures, etc.


• Main-continuity DC comics, including pre-Flashpoint and New 52, will be under DCU (Comics). Other DC universes such as Bombshells will be separate by universe.


• Everything set in the Doctor Who universe can be nominated under Doctor Who (including Sarah Jane Adventures and Torchwood).


• Tolkien fandoms will be split into The Silmarillion – J.R.R. Tolkein; The Hobbit (All Media Types), and The Lord of the Rings (All Media Types).


• All of the old-continuity Star Treks together under "Star Trek: Classic Timeline (All Series)," AOS under "Star Trek: Alternate Original Series (Movies)‎."


• Stargate will be grouped together under "Stargate - All Series"


• Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel: The Series and assorted spinoffs will go together under "Buffy the Vampire Slayer & Related Fandoms."


• All variations of Sailor Moon will be nominated separately.


• All Pretty Cure series will be nominated together.


• All Rune Factory series will be nominated together.


• FF X and FF X-2 will be nominated as "Final Fantasy X & Final Fantasy X-2"


• All of Dragon Age goes together under "Dragon Age - All Media Types"


• Kamen Rider variations go together under Kamen Rider - All Media Types


• Various Sentai properties go together under Super Sentai Series


• The Les Mis tag will be "Les Miserables (All Media Types)."


• Law and Order series will be nominated separately by series name.


• Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow tv shows will be nominated together as "Arrowverse (CW TV)"

If you're unhappy with any of those combinations/divisions, the mods are willing to negotiate, but the sooner you mention it, the more likely we are to be able to change it. If you believe your fandom has changed over the last year in a way that makes the above no longer accurate, or you plan to nominate a new fandom that may need special treatment in a similar manner, please let us know!

If you spot any doubles, misfiled fandoms, random pairing popping up under other fandoms or pairings that don't qualify, comment here. We're going to do our best to wrangle as we go.

Don't waste a nomination! Before you nominate anything, check the tag set to see if your pairings and fandoms are already there.

We also won’t be running a separate nomination discussion post this year due to the timeline being moved up a little, so in addition to any wrangling issues please feel free to talk about what you're thinking of nominating in the comments, discuss eligibility, negotiate free spaces in your nominations with other users, etc.

DCU Movies

I’m interested in hearing from people who might nominate for DCU movies including Batman vs Superman, Wonder Woman, etc. Last year they weren’t grouped, but as the verse grows there may be call to start grouping them together in this or future years tagsets. I have only passing familiarity with these fandoms so for those more in the know: do you agree/not agree with grouping them together, what movies should be in scope for a grouping if we use one, and what’s your preferred umbrella term?

I am personally only interested in Wonder Woman (2017), and would prefer to nom/request/write for that movie alone.

But I know that Wonder Woman has been integrated into the broader universe (and will be increasingly so with Justice League), so if other people have strong feelings about consolidating everything under DC Cinematic Universe (to match Marvel Cinematic Universe), I understand.

I'd like to see the DCU movies grouped together. Without grouping there aren't many options for Femslash. We're also still at a point that you can specify what part of canon you want just by the ships. So if somebody just wants say Wonder Woman ships or just Suicide Squad ships they can do that just by selecting the relevant ships. While somebody else who really wants Lois Lane/Harley Quinn doesn't have to put it in the crossover section.

Will the Mass Effect Trilogy be combined with Mass Effect Andromeda? I'm assuming so, but since MEA didn't exist last year I want to be sure!

I must confess to zero fandom knowledge here, but based on a quick google and a look at how AO3 wrangles Andromeda (which is indeed under the Mass Effect - All Media Types tag) I'm going to say most likely yes. If anyone disagrees, we're open to discussion of course - and we'll hold off approving nominations there for a bit to be safe so you can alter if need be.

Given there's already disagreement on combining, could you provide me with a little more information on if/why you think they should be combined? From what I read, it seemed like a similar situation to for example Star Trek TOS vs. Voyager (same continuity but different timeframe, characters, and location), but open to correction or more info if I've got that wrong.

I'll leave this an open question for now until either one of the other mods weighs in with more knowledge in this area, or until we have some more feedback from other participants.

Arrowverse (CW TV) & Power Rangers

I'm assuming Constantine falls under Arrowverse (CW TV) as well?

Is Power Rangers being all grouped together like the Super Sentai, Kamen Rider, and Pretty Cure fandoms? I do think the Power Rangers movie that just came out should be separate from the shows but the shows should be grouped together.

I'm not familiar with Constantine or the later seasons of Arrow, but it looks like there was some crossover between them in Arrow season four - does that sound right to you? So yes, I think we would be including Constantine in Arrowverse these days.

I'm not familiar with Power Rangers off the top of my head and am about to log off. With time zones and all one of the other mods might be able to answer that for you while I'm sleeping, otherwise I'll definitely confirm that for you asap tomorrow if not.

(Other mod here!) I'm not in the fandom, but it looks to me like the fandom for the 2017 Power Rangers film is pretty distinct from the TV fandom. I'm on board with having the movie as one fandom and the shows as another, although I'm not sure what the appropriate tag for the TV fandom would be.

This is the first time I've participated in an exchange like this, so I'm not sure of some of the subtleties.

With nominations, does a ship/fandom only have to be nominated once to be able to be requested/offered during sign ups? (I was thinking of nominating some smaller fandoms, but I was worried that if not enough people nominated them, they might not count? Though it looks like from the thing about not wasting a nomination, it only needs to be nominated once?)

Hi, yes, that's correct, it does only need a single nomination! So you can't waste a nomination on account of it being a small fandom (assuming your character/pairing choices abide by our other rules of course.)

Would The Vampire Diaries and The Originals be grouped as one fandom?

Looking at the 2016 tagset I would say historically I don't think we have, but I think there is a potentially strong argument to be made based on the other things we merge and given there's some canon crossover. We're open to arguments either way however, and also to what the umbrella term should be if needed.

Off the top of my head I don't think it's been as popular in other exchanges I've participated in, and so I don't think I've seen it merged elsewhere so I'm not sure what we'd call it.

Are Game of Thrones and ASOIAF kept separate or should it all be put under ASOIAF?

I believe there are some non-trivial character and plot differences between the two, so I would imagine they'd work best separately. However I haven't read the books or seen later seasons so I'd be interested in hearing from people who know it better than I do.

Edit: Actually, double checking the 2016 tagset we have previously separated them and that makes the most sense to me so we will continue to do so. Nominate separately as needed.

In the Doctor Who fandom, I've nominated Amy Pond/Amy Pond and it's not been approved yet though my other nominations have. In case this is a questionable issue, I do want to note that Amy Pond has canonically met and flirted with herself at one point in the show, and on at least one other occasion, there were two versions of Amy Pond in the same place and time. So wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey, Amy/Amy! :D

In Dragon Age fandom, Female Mahariel/Merrill and Female Dalish Warden/Merrill is the same ship — unless, I suppose, whoever nominated the latter literally meant "any female Warden with a Dalish background" and not, as that designation is generally used to mean within the fandom, "THE Dalish Warden, Mahariel, one of the possible player characters for the first game."

Also, I have a question. I tried to nom a few Sara Lance pairings for DC's Legends of Tomorrow and only belatedly (aka after initially hitting submit) saw you're putting that under Arrowverse. Now that's locked, though, I can't change the fandom and I haven't seen all the pairings in the umbrella tag, so what do I do?
