Nominations will open three days from today, at 5 PM (PDT) on Monday, August 10, but that is plenty of time to talk about them, IMO. Post what you are thinking about nominating in the comments, discuss eligibility, offer up free spaces, etc. Feel free to pull from our collection of banners made by users for prior years, though you are always welcome to make new ones and post them in the comments.

Would series wherein different installments have different casts be nominated as a whole or by installment? My investment in the answer to this question is primarily because of Pretty Cure, Fire Emblem, and Rune Factory, if you want specifics.

We've generally depended on the feelings of the fans. For example, Angel and Buffy are counted as one series, but the Lord of the Rings is separate from the Hobbit and the Sil. Which way do you want it?

ETA: It tends to be that if the instalments share a lot of their cast, it gets nominated as one, and if they're mostly separate with perhaps the odd crossover character, they're nominated apart.

Looking at the tag set from last year, we did each of Pretty Cure and Rune Factory together, but Fire Emblem was split into four fandoms.

I'm willing to take arguments for and against on that.

Any other DCU folks planning on signing up and if so, with what characters? I'm currently leaning towards Cass/Rose, Kate/Renee/Helena, Babs/Dinah, Cassie/Rose, & Jeannette/Scandal, but if you are also thinking of any of those I can save the space, goodness knows I have more than 5 f/f(/f) ships.

Also nominating Jem and the Holograms (Kimber/Stormer, Pizzazz/Jem) & Hellblazer (Gemma/Angie) and probably some self-indulgent crossovers.

On that note-- Does 'crossover' count as one of our five fandoms, or does the crossover have to be between already nominated fandoms, or what?

I'm interested, but they're so popular I probably won't need to nominate them unless no one else does:

Also, would other Kamen Rider fans prefer having the series nominated together or separately? There are few enough female characters (sob) that nominating them together probably wouldn't hurt, would give people more nomination/offer/request slots, and would make requesting intra-franchise crossovers easier (since we wouldn't have to spend a fandom slot on crossovers).

For the record, this is what we did about more complicated fandoms last year:

• Songs with female singers and female or ambiguous pronouns are eligible.


• Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is part of the Marvel Cinematic universe, so is Agent Carter.


• If it has Hugh Jackman and mutants in it, it's X-Men (Movies)


• Everything set in the Doctor Who universe can be nominated under Doctor Who (including Torchwood).


• Tolkien fandoms will be split into The Silmarillion – J.R.R. Tolkein; The Hobbit (All Media Types), and The Lord of the Rings (All Media Types).


• All of the Star Treks separate by series name.


• Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel the Series and assorted spinoffs will go together under "Buffy the Vampire Slayer & Related Fandoms."


• All variations of Sailor Moon will be nominated separately.


• All Pretty Cure series will be nominated together.


• FF X and FF X-2 will be nominated as "Final Fantasy X & Final Fantasy X-2"


• Marvel Comics will be nominated by universe, for example: Marvel 616, Marvel Adventures, etc.


• The Les Mis tag will be "Les Miserables (All Media Types)."

If you're unhappy with any of those combinations/divisions, the mods are willing to negotiate, but the sooner you mention it (either here or in the nomination discussions), the more likely we are to be able to change it.

How do people feel about Daredevil? Do you want it in with MCU, or standing alone?

What's the official stance on the Law & Order franchise--are they all under one umbrella, or is each series its own fandom? As a fan I'd prefer if they were kept separate because otherwise SVU tends to overshadow everything else. A few characters cross over in canon but otherwise each series pretty much kept to itself imo.

Torchwood is under Who, yes. Everyone crosses over so much there's no point separating them.

Should Arrow and The Flash be separate or together? I'm only able to do Arrow so I'd lean to separate but that might not be how everyone feels given a few crossovers (though I think it's closer to Law & Order than to Doctor Who/Torchwood at this point in time).

Nominations I plan to make:

Arrow: Thea/Laurel, Thea/Felicity, Laurel/Felicity, Thea/Laurel/Felicity - I've recently started shipping Laurel/girls hard and Thea/girls hard. Maybe Laurel/Nyssa for a final ship.

Right now, that's it! I might do some Glee rarer pair noms (Holly/April, April/Shelby, etc) and some RPF but there are so many of those I'd rather not double nom if possible.
