Sell Your Fandom/Pairing (and a pitch for the pinch hit list)
Sign ups open tomorrow morning, but in the meantime, take a moment talk up your favourite pairings and fandoms. Get offers! Get fans! Get someone to at least watch/read/listen to the bloody thing!

Use the comment space on livejournal or dreamwidth, or make your bid on tumblr and tag it "Femslashex." I'll keep track and make a links list.

ALSO! Please consider adding your name to the pinch hit list.

All you have to do is join the group, and you'll get e-mails when we're looking for pinch hits. No obligation to claim anything, but if you want to, you can just reply to the e-mail or the notice on the group page.

Pinch hitting is a great way to help out, both because it's pinch hitters that make fests work and because if you're choosy you can pick over things before you claim them. I'm also a fan of pinch hit lists just because I like getting to see who asked for what and so on.

This is the 2013 list. For the 2014 list, click here.

Re: Simoun
The animation did have some iffy moments, but overall it looked good. The character designer sure had a thing for unique hair color, but it's fantasy, so no need to be limited by realistic hair.

And I forgot to link my favorite piece of Simoun art, so here it is!

Re: Simoun
Ah, the wings pic! I love that one.

I think the unique hair color thing is probably related to the size of the cast? If you look at similarly-sized casts in unrealistic scenarios, you get similar color choices, such as in IdolM@ster or Fairy Tail or any of the popular shounen series. Especially when something starts as a game or anime and not as a manga, the hair color becomes especially diverse, I think. It might have to do with helping the audience distinguish characters early on?

Re: Simoun
There are a lot of tropes connected to hair colors in anime, like blonde = preppy, pink = innocent, blue = reserved (and sometimes serious), black = super serious, and so on, but honestly, I think it's mostly because weird hair colors are just more fun to draw, and with larger casts, it really does help me keep the characters straight, especially in something like Simoun.
