2016 – Let's Discuss Nominations
Hello again, everyone!

Now that we're officially back in business for the year, it's time to talk about nominations. As noted in the previous post, those will be open in five days, at 5 PM (PDT) on Monday, August 15, so there's time to start batting things around before then.

Feel free to talk about what you're thinking of nominating in the comments, discuss eligibility, negotiate free spaces in your nominations with other users, etc.

You're also more than welcome to pull from our collection of user-made banners from prior years, but don't let that stop you from making and posting (via comment here) your own if you feel inspired.

Re: Fandom Divisions/Amalgamations
I'm a huge fan of treating MCU as one giant world, given that they're all interrelated and take place in one world.

Same with Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow. Would Supergirl be included as they've had one crossover and they're about to somehow become a full-on CW show and presumably part of the main universe?

Re: Fandom Divisions/Amalgamations
What about MCU = Movies + Agent Carter + AoS, and Marvel Netflix = DD = JJ? Or even Agent Carter on its own as well. The category is pretty huge, either way, and anything not lumped just ends up in the crossover category. It's hard to hit a medium.

I would be very hard pressed to sort out Arrow/Flash/LoT, since they share so many characters. I don't know about Constantine and Vixen though.

Supergirl won't be a CW show until after signups end, so I may just leave it separate for now? The only crossover has been Barry.

Re: Fandom Divisions/Amalgamations
I like your divisions on MCU being movies, Agent Carter, and AoS, because there is significant crossover on events and characters, and separating Marvel Netflix out. (I think Luke Cage is starting soon! I realize this is a femslash ficathon, I'm just generally squeeful about Luke Cage.)

Next year's going to be even harder to figure out, since I hear tell Freeform is adding Cloak and Dagger to the mix.

LUKE CAGE! (I may have feelings). It will have Misty Fucking Knight in it, who I have a lot of ships for, but it also won't air until after signups close.

*hands*

It's worse than comics!

Re: Fandom Divisions/Amalgamations
Wait, they cast Misty Knight? AWESOME. I've mostly been avoiding news about it to avoid spoilers (I love casting spoilers, though), so I missed this gleeful thing. I had been hoping she'd at least show up as a cameo so she could be in the Iron Fist show! (Or whatever they're calling it.)

I'm sorry it's not airing until after signups close, but next year?

Re: Fandom Divisions/Amalgamations
They've also cast Colleen Wing, for Iron Fist. Iron Fist sounds like a shitshow, but I really, really want Misty/Colleen.

I'm sure everything will be even MORE complicated by next year, yes :D

Re: Fandom Divisions/Amalgamations
Where was Constantine fit in with the DC TV stuff, anyway?

Re: Fandom Divisions/Amalgamations
I'm good with MCU = Movies + Agent Carter + AoS, and Marvel Netflix = DD = JJ, since there are always crossovers if people wanted to branch into that.

I'm curious about how you'd split Star Wars now, though - I'll admit I don't remember how you worked it last year, but it seems like with TFA kicking off the sequels, Rouge One and a news season of Rebels around the corner, there might be just more in general?

Re: Fandom Divisions/Amalgamations
I hadn't thought about Star Wars yet. I think we did "all media types" last year, but I'm happy to divide it up if that's more practical. Though Rogue One will be rather after the fest.
