2016 – Let's Discuss Nominations  
Hello again, everyone!

Now that we're officially back in business for the year, it's time to talk about nominations. As noted in the previous post, those will be open in five days, at 5 PM (PDT) on Monday, August 15, so there's time to start batting things around before then.

Feel free to talk about what you're thinking of nominating in the comments, discuss eligibility, negotiate free spaces in your nominations with other users, etc.

You're also more than welcome to pull from our collection of user-made banners from prior years, but don't let that stop you from making and posting (via comment here) your own if you feel inspired.

I haven't been in DC fandom for a while, but didn't New 52 just get retconned anyway?

How would you like DC comics broken down, generally?

We have split Marvel by universe before, but mostly people are just writing the main one these days, as all the other ones sorta died.

I'm only reading a couple Rebirth books, but it feels to me like most of the New 52 stuff is still canon but with some elements brought back from older stories? It might be too soon to tell what they're up to.

I'm content to keep it the way it is or to split "Pre-Flashpoint" or "Pre-New 52" and "New 52/Rebirth". (The only one of my nominations that this really changes is Barbara Gordon/Dinah Lance. I'm really not interested in fic/art where Babs is Batgirl. Previously I've just indicated that in my letter/details and that seems to have worked fine.)

I sort of gave up in confusion last summer. I was enjoying Black Canary though. Who is Waverider? But why? What is going on?

Anyway, I can go either way with splitting at Flashpoint, or having it combined and people specifying which versions they like. Is there much fic/art for post-Flashpoint? Other than Demon Knights.

Presumably Bombshells can be nominated as its own thing.

I assume there's probably a New 52 Harley/Ivy fandom and maybe a few others? But yeah, I'm fine with keeping it all together unless anyone has a problem with that.
