2016 Beta List
Where there are writers, there are usually beta readers, so this is the post where you volunteer to be a beta (or look for a beta from among those who have volunteered). If you're interested, please do a quick copy-paste of the codebox, then put it in your comment and answer the questions provided.

Fandom(s): I'm happy to read unfamiliar fandoms to talk about general writing technique (pacing, comprehensibility, etc.) I am not familiar with much current TV but it's worth trying me on 'classics' of all kind; I'd particularly love to beta Anne of Green Gables, Jane Austen's works, anything mythological, Harry Potter, the Hunger Games, The Devil Wears Prada, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Star Wars, or Star Trek.
Maximum Rating: none; I will gladly beta your explicit kinky porn.
What You Will Not Read: I have a pretty weak stomach for violence and gore, and a general boredom with fight scenes, so I wouldn't be a good pick for anything more action-y. I also likely wouldn't have time to do justice to a work in the 10k word count range; 7.5k and under would be ideal.
Anything Else: I'm getting my PhD in English literature and really love poking at sentences and how they work! I *can* do a quickie grammar/spelling check if that's all you need (and I'm happy to help out!) but I get a lot more satisfaction out of looking at a draft that someone still intends to revise in some way, so I can live-comment my response to the fic's emotional arc, highlight the places where it's succeeding really well, talk a little about the overall goals of the piece. The more I beta, the more I love getting to talk with authors about their work and collaborate with them to make it awesome as it can be. I hope I'll have some good opportunities for that with this fest!
