Nominations open in two days
This is the 2013 post! Do not comment here anymore!

Comment here or at livejournal with what you plan to nominate. Clarify categories with the mod. Advertise empty slots. Maximise your nominations.

For the record, comics will be nominated by universe (for example Marvel 616, Marvel Adventures, Marvel Cinematic Universe). All of Doctor Who TV will be together and Big Finish will be on its own. Not being overburdened by female characters, Tolkien's Middle-Earth works will be together.

I'm not super familiar with Non-western fandoms and RPF fandoms, so guidance on how to group them would be welcome.

ETA: Rules post here, but to sum up: You may nominate up to five fandoms, and you may nominate up to five pairings in each fandom.

At the end of nominations, fandoms that do not have at least two pairings in them will be eliminated, as offers and requests on sign ups must have at least two pairings, and fandoms with one or no pairings would be a waste of everyone's time. Please consider whether or not you can request/offer more than one pairing before nominating a fandom.

ETA 2: After due consideration, we're allowing each participant to request ONE fandom with a single pairing. Therefore, fandoms with single pairings won't be deleted at the end of nominations. Fandoms with no pairings still will.

I'm also thinking about Actor RPF (Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron, probably for me personally) and Musician RPF (Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Ke$ha), but I understand that's one of the things the mods are asking about; any suggestions on making that easier for them?

Mostly about categories. Does Actor RPF and Music RPF cover it, or is the fandom customarily broken down a lot more? Say by show, network and band?

AO3 uses "Actor RPF" for something like that, a catchall. Or I could be more specific for that particular pairing and say "Snow White and the Huntsman RPF." If it's Actor RPF, then any actor pairing people requested would fall in, and someone who offered it for pairing X could end up being matched with someone who requested pairing Q. On the other hand, if what you want is a pair of actresses or musicians that have never actually been in a project together (like TSwift and Ke$ha), then the broader category is the only option.

Does that make any sense?

It does make sense. I guess what I'm asking is if it's very common for RPF femslash to be subdivided more (like the CW fans don't cross ship much with the Hawaii 5-0 people), or is it just kind of all in?

Would it be useful to have subcategories or just do actors and musicians as two large categories?

I'm honestly not sure what would be best for an exchange of this size/scope. I'd welcome anyone weighing in with more thoughts!

Maybe we'll try two main categories for now, and break it down more after nominations if that doesn't work.
