One Day Left of Nominations, and additional clarifications

We're approaching the final 24 hours of nominations! Nominations will close tomorrow, 8 August 2018, at 6PM EDT

Tolkien specific approvals
  • All The Silmarillion and other histories of Middle-Earth - J. R. R. Tolkien relationships have been approved, and should be correct as the tag didn't change.

  • All Lord of the Rings relationships have been approved as The Lord of the Rings & The Hobbit - J. R. R. Tolkien nominations. Relationships where all characters have a movie version have been duplicated to Jackson movies, if anyone spots that we missed one please let us know.

  • There were a variety of other fandom tags that allowed us to identify movie requests, and they have been approved under Middle Earth - Peter Jackson Movies along with any duplicates. Again, please let us know if something looks incorrect.

  • We have moved a few crossover relationships, but there may be others we have missed. If something looks out of place, or a nominator specifically wants versions of the characters from different fandom tags (Silmarillion/LotR and Hobbit Books/Jackson movies), please let us know

  • Because we are approaching the end of nominations and not all nominators may be online during the next day, relationships will be duplicated where required. They will only be removed from their current tagset if one or more of the characters did not appear in the applicable part of canon.

  • Can the nominators of the following let us know which fandom tags they wanted:
    • Bill Potts (Doctor Who)/Éowyn (LOTR) - if we don't hear from the nominator, we will approve as is allowing for either book or movie Eowyn requests/offers

    • Mithrellas/Nimrodel - input from anyone on whether this could belong in Silmarillion, LotR/Hobbit books, or either, would also be welcome

    • We've had Tar-Míriel/Original Female Character and Tar-Míriel/Original Female Character(s) nominated. The non-plural version has been added, if the other nominator(s) wish to be able to request poly OFC relationships drop us a comment and we will add a separate poly only tag

Fandoms that may (still) require clarification or combination

Pairings that may require clarification:
  • DC Animated. Courtney Whitmore/Kara Zor-El has been changed to Courtney/Kara In-Zee, as we've been told Kara Zor-El doesn't exist in DCAU. If this is incorrect or the nominator intended a crossover with a Kara Zor-El from a different universe, please drop us a comment

  • MCU/Crossover. Brunnhilde | Valkyrie/Jessica Jones came in under MCU, so we are assuming Netflix Jessica was intended. That pairing already exists in the crossover tagset, so if you want a different Jessica or Valkyrie please either let us know or update your nomination with clearer fandom indicators. Otherwise we will decline tomorrow as a duplicate.

Since no one else has jumped in with this: Technically, Mithrellas/Nimrodel could go in either LotR books or Silmarillion, but according to what the fandom usually does, I'd say it probably goes in LotR.

Spotted a duplicate under The Silmarillion and other histories of Middle-Earth - J. R. R. Tolkien:

Aredhel/Lúthien Tinúviel/Galadriel | Artanis (Silm)
Aredhel/Galadriel/Lúthien (Silm)

Thanks!

I nomiated Mithrellas/Nimrodel under LotR books, because while Mithrellas is mentioned only in Unfinished Tales, Nimrodel's story is primarily narrated in LotR (I think in the Lothlorien chapter?) and that story is really the bedrock of the ship, IMO. The ship doesn't really make sense in a Silm context for me, both in terms of time period and in terms of whether the characters fit under the Silm umbrella, because Nimrodel at least is decidedly not a Silm character.

I nominated the relationship where I thought it fit better, but I don't mind if the relationship comes under the Silm either. But I'm not sure I'm the only nominator, so IDK.

Edit: [personal profile] elleth explained this better in a past year for a different exchange: https://everywoman.dreamwidth.org/2251.html?thread=11467#cmt11467

Laura Hollis/Carmilla Karnstein has wandered into the Carmilla - J. Sheridan Le Fanu fandom. (The proper canonical for that fandom, Carmilla | Mircalla Countess Karnstein/Laura (Book) is already there too.)

Someone nominated Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger separately from Super Sentai Series. It should be folded in with the umbrella fandom.

Should Bletchley Circle and Bletchley Circle: San Francisco be separate categories? They do have new characters, true, but so did season 2 of The Bletchley Circle, and it means that people who would be up for writing/receiving both have to use two categories for what's a fairly small fandom.

Are there overlapping characters between BC and BC:SF? I'm not familiar with the latter. We can definitely run merging the two fandoms by other nominators

Yes, Millie and Jean are two of the central characters to BC:SF and were half the original four of BC. (And are also currently living together after Millie dragged Jean to the US.)
