Not the nominator for either, but re: Fallout (Desdemona/Glory), the standard procedure in exchanges seems to be for the Fallout titles to be separated and I think that works well. This pairing belongs in Fallout 4. Neither character belongs in any other game.

Re: Makinami Mari Illustrious/Shikinami Asuka Langley, I'd agree that putting this pairing in Rebuild is a better idea if that has also been nominated, as Mari does not appear in the original anime series (which is what is meant by the vanilla Neon Genesis Evangelion fandom tag). However, because of the nature of the Evangelion universe (it's implied that Rebuild is a subsequent universe / timeline following NGE and End of Evangelion), grouping all Evangelion-related noms into one fandom tag could be workable if a nominator preferred that?

Desdemona/Glory appear to be buried in the queue, but I'll check it's either already moved or correct it if it pops up as we clear outstanding issues. I've also tweaked the post to ask for feedback about combining Rebuild into Neon Genesis, instead of just on the pairing.

Edit: someone else has dropped by below to describe some characterisation differences that could cause difficulties in matching, so we will likely keep them split at this stage.

Hi again, we've had feedback from someone on Tumblr that "Fallout is one universe, and (most) of the games are canon with each other" so All Media Types is more appropriate.

I don't think we've ever combined Fallout before, and I assume that was for a reason, but if you or anyone else passing by could clarify on how the games fit together in terms of shared/different universes or any characters who do or don't crossover between games, that would be very helpful! If characters are all separate like you said Desdemona and Glory are, and/or some of the games are in their own universes/timelines/etc*, I'm inclined to leave them separate, but I don't want to make assumptions.

*If our Tumblr commenter doesn't have a DW and wants to post anonymously, please feel free to clarify what you were referring to by only most of the games being canon if I've misinterpreted that.

Sure thing; I should preface by saying I’m still unsure whether I will be signing up for this exchange or requesting Fallout games if I do, so my horse in this race is pretty small.

The games do all take place in a shared universe with some overlap of characters. That being said (and I can only speak for 3, 4, and New Vegas–haven’t played the first two), the games all take place in different places at different times, and whatever character overlap is there is quite minor and usually only at a cameo level. They are very much self-contained stories. The decision to group or split them usually has more to do with the mechanics of the exchange itself; i.e., Fallout 3 is still Yuletide eligible while 4 and NV are not, or I could see someone wanting them to be split in order to meet minimum fandoms requested/offered, etc.

It’s also worth noting that the games themselves are extremely long and involved RPG video games which require a lot of time and effort to canon review, and it’s very plausible someone could know, say, Fallout: New Vegas well enough to feel comfortable to offer it without ever having played Fallout 4, for example.

One reason to potentially group the noms under AMT is if people have nominated pairings of characters from different games without wanting them categorized as “Crossovers”, for whatever reason.

Thank you! It sounds like there could be a case for combining, but as we haven't heard further detail from the other participant or anyone else who is planning to request/offer Fallout, I don't want to risk springing a combination tag that may not suit on all the nominators so close to nominations closing. There also aren't any crossover requests for Fallout at this stage.
