As we're approaching the deadline, here are a few tips and guidelines for how to post your art to AO3. If you have any further questions, please feel free to email us at femslashexmod@gmail.com! (You can also comment here, but be careful not to de-anon with direct links to or details about your art.)

As Femslashex has an anon period, we ask that you don't use a public post to your Twitter/Tumblr/Deviantart/etc to host your art. There are a few options for private image hosting:

• Private Discord server - if you have a Discord account, you can create a private server that only you have access to and host your image file there. This is the safest option for NSFW art.


• Private Imgur post. Imgur posts are private by default. The terms of service do forbid NSFW images, but they rely on users reporting rule-breaking images rather than auto-detection.


• Private Tumblr post. You can make a private or draft Tumblr post to host your image file. Tumblr does ban sexually explicit content, but their enforcement can be patchy.

If you post your art publicly before the anonymous period ends, we'll contact you to take it down and we may have to default you/send your recipient to pinch hit.

Art will also have to be embedded on AO3 (rather than, e.g., posting a link to where the art is hosted.) This tutorial details how to embed image files on AO3, using Imgur as an example. (Note that while the tutorial also includes Deviantart, there's no private hosting option on Deviantart so it's not suitable for Femslashex.) You can include additional pairings in your letter if you have more than ten pairings you like in a fandom. You can also request f/f/m poly ships in your prompts as long as they aren't the only prompts for the f/f pairing. Please take care to make sure any such prompts are clearly optional and include more information about the pairings that are actually in your sign up so your creator doesn't feel bad about being unable to write a pairing if they matched with you on something else.

Please also be respectful of other participants if they have different preferences to you!

Dangan Ronpa: we have pairings from fangames nominated under this fandom. We don’t typically allow specific original characters like this in the tagset outside of ‘Original Work’, so would like to invite Dangan Ronpa fans (or fans of other fandoms with fangames) to discuss eligibility over in this thread.

Deltarune (Video Game): we have nominations involving Kris, and works under the same tags seem to be predominantly categorised as other or f/m. We aren’t familiar with the fandom but a quick search appears to identify Kris as canonically having no gender and using they/them pronouns. Can we confirm this is correct or if there's other eligibility information we're missing?

Doctor Who: can the nominator of Suzie Costello/Alex provide any additional information about which Alex they want to see, such a series or episode or last name?

House of the Dragon: we are considering combining this with Game of Thrones, as it sounds similar to other shared universe fandoms where some canon is set in a different time period without being a different universe. If there is any additional information we should consider for or against combining, please drop us a comment.

The L Word: both the original and the new series will continue to be combined under ‘The L Word (2004 and 2019)’ this year.

Original Work: we have nominations for Original Female Character/Original Female Character. Please include some kind of distinguishing information in your tag about what sort of characters you’d like to match for.

Rings of Power: we will be approving this a unique fandom separate to our other usual Tolkien tags.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has been combined under Star Trek: Classic Timeline (All Series). If there is some reason this does not belong with the other Discovery related Trek canon, please drop us a comment.

The Wheel of Time (TV): we currently intend to approve this as unique to the book series. If anyone believes they should be combined, please pop over and discuss it at this thread.

There is likely to be a short extension to the nomination period. If you've been waiting for more approvals before making nominations, look out for a confirmed countdown coming soon. Finally, please remember to check the Shared Fandom list before nominating. We make corrections and rename wrong fandom tags wherever possible but you run the risk of rejected nominations or something else going awry if you fail to check the list.

You may nominate up to ten fandoms with up to ten relationships in each.

All nominated characters must be female or genderqueer characters you'd be comfortable writing about in a femslash challenge

Please nominate crossovers as under the fandom: Crossovers - Fandom, and list the characters with their fandom after the character name (Example: Pepper Potts (MCU)/Seven of Nine (Star Trek: Voyager). Crossovers submitted under a single fandom or submitted without fandom details after each name won't be approved until they've been corrected.

[Canonical Character]/Original Female Character is allowed. [Canonical Character]/Any is not allowed. The Character(s) version of OFC tags will no longer be used and any canonical nominations using this format will be approved without the plural. If nominating poly ships with original characters, please indicate the specific number of characters you would like included, eg. [Canonical Character]/Original Female Character/Original Female Character.

[Canonical Character]/[Unnamed Character] is allowed in cases where they were most likely a female or genderqueer character, but we don't know exactly who they were, for example: Galadriel/Legolas' Mother in The Hobbit fandom.

There will be one category for Original Work, in which you may nominate things such as Princess/Handmaiden, Mermaid/Ship Captain, or Starship Captain/Chief Engineer.

You may wish to drop down into the comments below to see what fandoms and pairings others are nominating, and how to nominate large/complicated fandoms. We will be continuing to wrangle most shared universe fandoms in the same manner as previous years, please check the list below before nominating.

Fandoms should be nominated according to shared universes. This means fandoms with common settings and characters or unique shared backstories and timelines, should be grouped together. Different versions of characters/timelines or unique adaptions should be nominated separately. Please note that:
All Media Type fandom tags may or may not be eligible, depending on whether AMT encompasses multiple versions of a character or multiple timelines.

RPF, Band, and other ‘real world’ characters should be grouped under the broadest fandom title that makes sense, trying to minimise the number of fandoms an individual character could belong to while also avoiding the fandom becoming unwieldy.

Many franchises are already in the shared universe list. Please check it thoroughly and nominate accordingly. If you are nominating a related franchise title which is not listed as an exception but has its own unique separate universe, please comment before nominating.

Do not be afraid to use or suggest non-canonical fandom tags, especially when an appropriate shared universe tag does not already exist. The mods can help you select one if you are unsure what to use for your nominations.
