Nominations Are Open
Please read the rules before you start nominating.

In short:
  • You may nominate up to five fandoms with up to five pairings in each.

  • Both parties must be women or gender questioning/queer people you'd be comfortable writing about in a femslash challenge

  • Threesomes/Moresomes and crossovers may not be nominated (but they may be listed in optional details when you sign up).

  • Canonical Character/Original Female Character is allowed. Canonical Character/Any is not allowed

  • Please nominate comics fandoms by universe, both Doctor Who tv series together (with Big Finish, Torchwood and Sarah Jane Adventures separate), all Middle-Earth fandoms together under Tolkien Works, all of the Star Treks separate by series name.

If you spot any doubles, misfiled fandoms, random pairing popping up under other fandoms or pairings that don't qualify, comment here. I'm going to do my best to wrangle as I go.

Okay, ready to go? More than ready to go?

Click here to nominate some femslash.

Nominations will remain open until 10pm PDT 13 September 2013.

I don't know all the fandoms involved, though some are obvious:

Genei wo Kakeru Taiyou = Anime/Manga
House of Mystery = Comics (a DC line)
Kiniro Mosaic = Anime/Manga
Notes from the Garden of Lilies = Anime/Manga, but the Japanese name is Zenryaku, Yuri no Sono yori, so that would get changed if someone wrote something for it (*crosses fingers*)

For Simoun, the ones I noticed with existing different canonicals are:

Aer/Neviril = Aaeru/Neviril (existing canonical)
Dominura/Limone = Dominuura/Rimone (existing canonical)
Mamina/Roatreamon = Mamiina/Rodoreamon (existing canonical)

The other Simoun tags seem fine. As for FF, I'm not in the fandoms, but FFIV seems fine. For FFVI, Lakshmi and Starlet are the same person, I think? And Phoenix is a bird, but Rachel sort of merges with it, so maybe it could be considered female after that point. I'm not really familiar with later FF games.

Hm, I wonder why the tags are doing that... The edit pages do say you're the last one to work with them, so they're accepting *something*, and the tags definitely still exist. Can you try re-entering them again as a new nomination, perhaps? If that doesn't work, I'll ask Sam what to do, since I've seen him manually place tags in fandoms for a tag set problem before.

ETA: I should have said, the tags you listed aren't showing up in the nominations at all for me. There's probably a delay for the cache to update, so generally it's good to wait about 15 minutes before declaring something "fixed" or "broken".

Oh, sorry. I misread. Yes. If you could sort them where they go, that'd be great. I put in a support request yesterday, I think, but nothing and I don't have access. Leave the lilies one, and I'll change the name to what it should be first.

Comics:
Ame-Comi Girls
House of Mystery (Comics)
Stumptown (Comics)

Movie:
G.B.F (Gay Best Friend) (2013)

Anime Manga:
Genei wo Kakeru Taiyou | Il Sole Penetra le Illusioni
Kiniro Mosaic

Other Media:
Girl: "Who Are You?" Alien: "Er. I'm an Alien."

Will fix everything else when I'm actually awake. I did leave it for a good two hours, but they have now vanished, as you say. So who knows. Extra laggy tonight?

Fandoms are sorted! For the lilies one, just make sure to not include the comma when putting in the tag. (Probably we would canonize as "Zenryaku Yuri no Sono yori | Notes from the Garden of Lilies", but you don't have to input it that way. It can frankly stay as it is if you like, as long as no one else nominates it under its Japanese name.)

I've preemptively asked someone knowledgeable for suggestions about the ship tags not going under the fandoms. If you enter them again and they still don't go, please let me know.

Thank you so much for running this exchange!

Everything seems to be working now. Who knows.

If you have a minute, could you sort Zenryaku Yuri no Sono yori into Anime and Manga?

Score! Fandom moved, appears to be showing up correctly now.

If you run into issues with any other tags that won't associate, I've been informed that I can manually move them into the fandoms for you using the wrangling interface, then leave a note for the wranglers so they don't futz with it until after the exchange. Holler if you need me to do that at any point. (I'll keep an eye out for new fandom tags anyway, since it's really exciting to see so many of my favorite fandoms on the list!)

Excellent.

At this point, erasing everything, going to bed, and sorting it out in the morning seems to work pretty well. I shouldn't try to fuss with this stuff late at night anyway.

I really appreciate all your help. So far my end has mostly been fussy more than anything, but it's reassuring to have backup.

Rose Under Fire - Elizabeth Wein should go in books, when you have a chance.

Any idea why Xena is listed under No Media as well as TV? Inception was there a bit ago, but now seems to be gone. I'm not sure what that category is for.

Got it!

"No Media" is where we put fandoms we don't intend to canonize, or which are mostly there for administrative purposes: "No Fandom" (where all our shared tags like "Alternate Universe" go), "Multi-Fandom" (for works which use a bazillion fandoms they don't want to tag), "Original Work", etc. Sometimes a fandom tag accidentally gets dumped there and is then synned back to the place where it should have been, and this drags "No Media" onto the canonical tag. That's probably what happened here. I'll get it pulled.

(If anything else shows up there, please let me know! I'm only about 7 pages into re-checking the category, and it's very large.)

I just looked at the tag set, and a number of pairings seem to have come unassociated. Mostly they seem to be from Scott Pilgrim (which now has a different fandom name) and two from Dangan Ronpa (which is the same, so idk). Should I just manually associate them back where they ought to go? Does it even matter now that assignments have gone out?

I'm 90% sure this is the result of some wrangling on the back end and not anything to do with this tagset in particular. I know that Dangan Ronpa just went through a split, where they pulled off DR2, which means ships from DR2 would be pulled into the second game and removed from the first. Scott Pilgrim may be experiencing the same situation.

Since assignments have gone out, I wouldn't worry about it. It shouldn't affect gifts or treats, since posters can tag those any way they want.
