Nominations Clarifications
Please double check the list of combined fandoms in the last nominations post before nominating large fandoms and franchises that may be combined! Some things may be approved and moved to the umbrella fandom to make space in the queue, but we will largely avoid approving incorrect tags for now wherever we can so we can wrangle correct nominations faster.

Particular fandoms we've noticed issues with so far, though others may be buried in the queue:
  • Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow instead of Arrowverse (CW TV)
  • Black PantherThor, and Agents of SHIELD instead of Marvel Cinematic Universe
  • Wonder Woman instead of DC Cinematic Universe
  • Marvel (Comics) instead of specific Marvel titles
  • Sarah Jane Adventures instead of Doctor Who.
Please update your noms with the correct fandom tag if they are still unapproved and on the combined list!

Fandoms that may require clarification or combination:
  • Pocket Monsters SPECIAL | Pokemon Adventures: is this different to the Pokemon Main Games tag we've seen before, or would a combined tag be better?
  • The Runaways (TV): should this be combined with MCU or Marvel Netflix, or left stand-alone?
  • Disney Descendents: does the live action diverge from the rest of Disney enough to stand-alone, or should it be combined under AMT?
  • DuckTales 2017: again, stand-alone or AMT?
  • Tolkien: we have been discussing changing the fandom tags to split book and movie canon, but most likely to combine in different ways if we make changes, and would love more input from other nominators
  • Sunless Sea, Fallen London: should an umbrella fandom be used?
  • Star Trek: Discovery is to be nominated as part of Star Trek: Classic Timeline (All Series). All Mirror characters should be nominated under Classic.
  • Sailor Moon combinations have been changed slightly. Crystal/Manga is combined, 90s anime and live action are separate. If you wish to nominate another part of Sailor Moon, please drop a comment before nominating so we can discuss the most appropriate split/combination and fandom tag
  • Dangan Rompa. We have a nomination for Super Dangan Ronpa 2, and also All Media Types. Can these nominations be combined or is Super a separate fandom?

Pairings that may require clarification:
  • ASOIAF/Game of Thrones - can the nominator(s) of the following pairings confirm if they were meant to be TV or book requests/check their pairing is still available in the correct fandom? We had some wandering, and we think they were intended as ASOIAF but we want to double check.
    • Cersei Lannister/Catelyn Stark
    • Cersei Lannister/Sansa Stark
    • Elia Martell/Lyanna Stark
    • Myrcella Baratheon/Sansa Stark
    • Sansa Stark/Margaery Tyrell
  • Ghostbusters (2016): Erin Gilbert/Female Ghost and Jillian Holtzmann/Female Ghost. Do these tags refer to specific female ghosts or original ghosts?
  • Tomb Raider/Crossover: Lara Croft/Diana (Wonder Woman). We are assuming this was meant to be a crossover (please correct us if there's a Diana in canon we aren't aware of that you meant to choose instead), which version of Wonder Woman did the nominator want?
  • Sailor Moon: can the nominator of Chibiusa/Tomoe Hotaru please confirm which fandom they wanted?
  • Crossover: Joan Jett/Kristen Stewart. What are the best RPF fandom groupings to assign to each half of this pairing?
  • Crossover/Xena: Aya | Amunet (Assassin's Creed)/Cleopatra VII of Egypt. This has popped up under Xena, we assume as a crossover intended to include Xena's Cleopatra. Can the nominator please confirm that, or if they meant the historical or another version of Cleopatra?
  • Crossovers: Trixie Belden/Nancy Drew. Did the nominator intend the book Nancy Drew or another version?

There's still a decent sized queue that we are working down, we will keep you updated if you're waiting to see what's already approved before nominating.

Ducktales nom - I'd be really confused if it was combined with any other canon since it's its own thing.

Not the nominator, but I would second that Ducktales (2017) is a separate thing, as another Ducktales fan.

There is a ton of intense debate online about the degree to which Ducktales crosses over with various other Disney properties, but I think it's generally agreed that the Duckverse (in which Ducktales takes place) in general is its own thing, separate from other Disney properties. And the 2017 Ducktales reboot in particular is a different thing from earlier incarnations of the Duckverse, including the original Ducktales. Major characters have different backstories and different character traits and character designs, and some characters only occur in one version of the show.

For example: Webby underwent a total personality reboot and character redesign, with a lot of new interests and skills her original never had. Lena, her best friend, only exists in the 2017 universe. Mrs. Beakley wasn't (as far as I recall) a former secret agent in the original universe, and I think her spy nemesis, Black Heron, is also original to the 2017 universe... and so on.

Thank you for jumping in, I was just about to hit post on a comment asking for more information so this is perfect. I'm mostly only familiar with the big name movies like Frozen or Beauty and the Beast, so input on the best way to split Disney is fantastic and it sounds like All Media Types isn't best for Disney anymore. Is this a better split?

Disney - All Media Types
Descendents
Ducktales*

*Should it just be Ducktales 2017? Or we do need two Ducktales tags? The reboot definitely sounds like a different thing on its own, but the degree of difference between early Ducktales and the rest of Disney may be important for whether we roll early Ducktales into AMT.

If anyone passing by thinks we should be aware of other shared-universe variations for Disney before they nominate or before we reach their existing nominations in the queue, please jump on in!

Haha, happy to help!

The "what is the Duckverse" question goes down a long, long fannish rabbit hole. There are other continuity splits (e.g. getting into the original comics canons and if/when those universes diverge) but realistically, I think most of the femslashable characters are in the more recent works.

It seems like Disney's official line is that Duckverse is part of the Mickey Mouse verse, but most Duckverse fans disagree with that, so it really could go either way? I think the two tacts you could take would be separating as:

-Disney AMT (excluding all Duckverse)
-Disney Duckverse AMT (original Ducktales, Darkwing Duck, Uncle Scrooge comics, etc.)
-Ducktales (2017)

Or:

-Disney AMT (including all non-2017 Duckverse)
-Ducktales (2017)

That being said, I'm not in the original comics fandoms, so I'd defer to other people if anyone is thinking of nominating characters from there specifically.

I'm not in non-duck Disney fandoms or Descendents, so I don't have useful thoughts on those.

Okay, given we take word of god type information from creators into account when relevant, I'm going to lean towards the second grouping for simplicity sake for now. I don't think I've noticed Ducktales in the queue other than for 2017 at this point either, so it might be an irrelevant point if nobody nominates earlier Ducktales anyway.

Thank you again for the help!

If anyone who is in Ducktales fandom or plans to nominate non-2017 Ducktales characters wants to weigh in with rabbit hole details, please feel free to and we can discuss/adjust as we go if it's needed.
