Not the nominator for either, but re: Fallout (Desdemona/Glory), the standard procedure in exchanges seems to be for the Fallout titles to be separated and I think that works well. This pairing belongs in Fallout 4. Neither character belongs in any other game.

Re: Makinami Mari Illustrious/Shikinami Asuka Langley, I'd agree that putting this pairing in Rebuild is a better idea if that has also been nominated, as Mari does not appear in the original anime series (which is what is meant by the vanilla Neon Genesis Evangelion fandom tag). However, because of the nature of the Evangelion universe (it's implied that Rebuild is a subsequent universe / timeline following NGE and End of Evangelion), grouping all Evangelion-related noms into one fandom tag could be workable if a nominator preferred that?

Desdemona/Glory appear to be buried in the queue, but I'll check it's either already moved or correct it if it pops up as we clear outstanding issues. I've also tweaked the post to ask for feedback about combining Rebuild into Neon Genesis, instead of just on the pairing.

Edit: someone else has dropped by below to describe some characterisation differences that could cause difficulties in matching, so we will likely keep them split at this stage.

Hi again, we've had feedback from someone on Tumblr that "Fallout is one universe, and (most) of the games are canon with each other" so All Media Types is more appropriate.

I don't think we've ever combined Fallout before, and I assume that was for a reason, but if you or anyone else passing by could clarify on how the games fit together in terms of shared/different universes or any characters who do or don't crossover between games, that would be very helpful! If characters are all separate like you said Desdemona and Glory are, and/or some of the games are in their own universes/timelines/etc*, I'm inclined to leave them separate, but I don't want to make assumptions.

*If our Tumblr commenter doesn't have a DW and wants to post anonymously, please feel free to clarify what you were referring to by only most of the games being canon if I've misinterpreted that.

Sure thing; I should preface by saying I’m still unsure whether I will be signing up for this exchange or requesting Fallout games if I do, so my horse in this race is pretty small.

The games do all take place in a shared universe with some overlap of characters. That being said (and I can only speak for 3, 4, and New Vegas–haven’t played the first two), the games all take place in different places at different times, and whatever character overlap is there is quite minor and usually only at a cameo level. They are very much self-contained stories. The decision to group or split them usually has more to do with the mechanics of the exchange itself; i.e., Fallout 3 is still Yuletide eligible while 4 and NV are not, or I could see someone wanting them to be split in order to meet minimum fandoms requested/offered, etc.

It’s also worth noting that the games themselves are extremely long and involved RPG video games which require a lot of time and effort to canon review, and it’s very plausible someone could know, say, Fallout: New Vegas well enough to feel comfortable to offer it without ever having played Fallout 4, for example.

One reason to potentially group the noms under AMT is if people have nominated pairings of characters from different games without wanting them categorized as “Crossovers”, for whatever reason.

It sounds like there could be a case for combining, but as we haven't heard further detail from the other participant or anyone else who is planning to request/offer Fallout, I don't want to risk springing a combination tag that may not suit on all the nominators so close to nominations closing. There also aren't any crossover requests for Fallout at this stage.

On Neon Genesis Evangelion, I'd prefer it stay separate as some of the different versions of the same characters are quite different. E.g. Asuka Langley Soryu and Asuka Shikinami Langley would be considered the same character if grouped, but Rebuild (Shikinami) Asuka, among other things, becomes an adult in a child's body, which doesn't happen to Soryu Asuka.

That's right; the above characters are unique to their versions, so unless someone nominates a 1998/2017 crossover pairing, which is unlikely, I think potential participants will know where to look for their ships.

The TV universe is seperate so I think for a tagset the best way to do Bedelia/Clarice is as a crossover of Hannibal (TV) & Hannibal Lecter Tetralogy - Thomas Harris.

I wasn’t sure how to nominate this one. The canon is an animated saga (The Hot Daga) being told in the last few minutes of the weekly Q&A videos for Buzzfeed Unsolved, a YouTube series. One fic’s been written for the ship in question before, and was tagged with Buzzfeed Unsolved, if you’d rather put it in there.

Not the nominator, but the comic tag for Kate Bishop/America Chavez is 'Young Avengers (Comics).' For Carol Danvers/Jessica Drew I'd say they mean 'Marvel 616' (or if you need something more specific, maybe 'Captain Marvel (Marvel Comics)' or 'Spider-Woman (Comics)').

Hmm, to avoid duplication confusion it would probably be best to delete one as either could be used to request and offer Valkyrie/OFC. But I don't want to assume it's an irrelevant difference in case someone wants to avoid matching on potentially poly OFC relationships.

If you're interested in either a pairing or poly set-up, perhaps replacing yours with Valkyrie/OFC/OFC - or OFC(s)/OFC(s) if you want the number left ambiguous as 3+ - might be a good solution? If so, just let me know and I can pop it in for you if you're out of relationship slots under MCU.

Under DC Animated Universe you have "Courtney Whitmore (Bruce Timm Animated)/Kara Zor-El (Bruce Timm Animated)". There is a character who is called Supergirl in the DCAU, but she isn't Kara Zor-El. There is no character with that name in the DCAU. They probably meant Kara In-Ze, who isn't from Krypton and isn't related to Superman, but does have the title of Supergirl.

Fixed, thank you! That nomination came in with those specific character disambiguations if I remember correctly, so I suspect they did mean In-Ze and didn't realise, but I'll note it in the next post in case a crossover was intended.

Hey, can I ask why my nomination for Tar-Míriel/Original Female Character in The Silmarillion and other histories of Middle-Earth - J. R. R. Tolkien was rejected?

If the Lord of the Rings/Silmarillion crossover pairings are being put in crossovers, then these two probably should be also for the sake of consistency (I don't mind them being where they are, but I'd hate for people to see those and assume they were the only Tolkien crossover pairings available):

It was a duplicate of Tar-Míriel/Any Female Character(s) (Silm) which was already approved. I've noticed AO3 being slow to update the tagset this evening after I hit approve, so it might not have been showing a moment ago while you were looking.

If you're specifically wanting OFC without an (s) so there's no ambiguity that you don't want poly, let me know and I can tweak them so we have two versions of the tag - Tar-Míriel/OFC and Tar-Míriel/OFC(s)/OFC(s). If you're happy with the more commonly canonical version of Original Female Character(s) and using your optional details to provide your requests, then I'll leave it as it is.

The accepted tag says "Tar-Míriel/Any Female Character(s)", not "Tar-Míriel/Original Female Character(s)", and I don't see those as the same thing. I would assume from seeing it that "Any Female Character(s)" meant any canon character(s) and doesn't include original characters. I would prefer for my tag to be added back in the way I nominated it.

Oh oops, sorry! That's my eyes blurring because I've been starring at a screen too long and exactly why I'm logging off, haha. We don't even allow Any Characters, that's my bad not to seeing they were different when scanning the queue and I can definitely fix it for you in the morning. Let me know if you specifically want it with or without the plural?
